A foreigner who has a refugee status granted in the Republic of Poland is authorized to perform work on the same basis as Polish citizens. The foreigner has therefore an unrestricted access to the Polish labor market.
Applicants for refugee status and their spouses on whose behalf the application has been made for granting such a status, do not have to obtain work permit. The condition for starting a work without permit is to have a certificate issued by the Head of the Office for Foreigners, stating that the failure to issue a decision at first instance within 6 months from the date of submission of the application is not on the side of the person applying for refugee status; such person must identify with temporary certificate of the identity.
